The Wakaya Club & Spa is situated on the Western leeward side of Wakaya Island, Fiji – a private 2.200 acre tropical idyll that was first discovered in 1970.
Archaeological digs, conducted by a Fulbright Scholar from UCLA, indicate that Wakaya was inhabited as long ago as 700 B.C. Some of the artifacts are on view in “Rumu Lagilagi” (the recreation room next to Reception) along with 19th century lithographs, paintings and maps. “Korolevu,” which means “large village” in Fijian, is the summit of the island and site of an early Fijian fortification. With its ancient banyan trees, it is a magical place of great spiritual energy. A visit there will put in perspective the breadth, scope and richness of this island paradise.
